Helping young people find their voice, share their ideas, and shape the world around them.
Empowering teachers, engaging and inspiring students.
At Bright Torches, we believe that story has the power to change lives.
Through storytelling, drama, literature and creative learning, we help children and young people develop the confidence to speak, listen, imagine and belong. We work alongside teachers, schools and universities to create learning experiences that inspire curiosity, strengthen literacy and help every learner discover that their ideas matter.
We believe education is at its best when children don’t simply receive knowledge—they actively participate in creating it. When they tell stories, explore great literature, perform Shakespeare, listen to one another and discover the confidence to express themselves, learning becomes something they experience together.
From three-year-olds discovering the joy of stories, to trainee teachers preparing for their own classrooms, Bright Torches creates opportunities for people to think deeply, speak confidently and learn together.
Every day, young people arrive in classrooms carrying stories, ideas and questions that deserve to be heard.
WHY BRIGHT TORCHES?
What matters to us.
Story
Stories help us understand ourselves, each other and the world around us. They invite imagination, curiosity and empathy, opening doors to new ideas and new possibilities.
We believe every young person deserves the confidence to share their ideas, ask questions, listen carefully and know that their voice has value.
Talk
The most powerful learning happens when everyone feels seen, heard and included. We create spaces where every learner can participate with confidence.
Belonging
Great teachers change lives. We work alongside educators throughout their careers, equipping them with creative approaches that transform classrooms long after we have left.
Teachers
From Early Years to postgraduate teacher education, we work alongside young people and educators at every stage of learning.
OUR WORK
Whatever the age or setting, our purpose remains the same: helping people find their voice, share their ideas and take their place in the story.
Discovering the joy of stories
Story, talk and active learning
Literature brought to life
Creative practise that lasts
Sharing ideas across borders
From rehearsal room to classroom
Shakespeare. From rehearsal room to classroom.
His plays weren’t written simply to be read. They were written to be spoken, heard, questioned and performed.
Our practitioners bring together deep experience of Shakespeare in professional theatre with years of experience working with children, young people, teachers and trainee teachers. We invite students to approach the plays as actors do: speaking the language, exploring characters and relationships, testing different interpretations, making choices and discovering meaning together.
Performance doesn’t replace close reading or textual understanding. It becomes a route into it.
From playful first encounters in primary school to KS3 and focused GCSE set-text workshops, we help young people experience Shakespeare as accessible, challenging and alive. Our Shakespeare CPD gives teachers practical rehearsal-room approaches they can continue using in their own classrooms.
Behind every workshop is something much bigger.
THE DIFFERENCE WE MAKE
Children who speak with confidence.
Teachers who discover fresh ways to inspire learning.
Schools that build stronger communities through creativity.
“The rehearsal room method you use so skilfully is perfectly attuned to what great English teaching looks and feels like”
Anthony Cockerill
Director, National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE)
We measure our work carefully through research, evaluation and the voices of the young people and teachers we work alongside, continually learning from every project.
